This article concurs with Weiss’s critique of the myth of the powerless state,
which underestimates the possibilities that remain open to nation states to
take action. Even today in an environment characterized by globalized markets,
nation states have at their disposal instruments that can effectively
ensure high job quality.

Call for Papers for the 10th International Conference in Critical Management Studies, Liverpool, 3-5 July 2017. Topic: "Do employee-owners really matter? Implications and consequences of employee share ownership on corporate governance." Closing date for abstracts has been extended to 10th February 2017.
Authors are encouraged to submit research manuscripts that are likely to make a significant contribution to the literature on demands in the modern workplace. The focus of the Special Issue is empirical - qualitative or quantitative – evidence, and we welcome contributions from business administration, industrial and organizational psychology, work sociology, and occupational medicine as
well as other disciplines dealing with the topic of the Special Issue.

In den industriellen Beziehungen wurden die Gewerkschaften als soziale Bewegungen wiederentdeckt. Die Literatur über gewerkschaftliche Revitalisierung und „social movement unionism“ knüpft bisher allerdings nur sehr lose an die theoretischen Konzepte und empirischen Befunde der Bewegungsforschung an. Dies lässt eine grundlegende und umfassendere Analyse der Beziehungsgeflechte zwischen sozialen Bewegungen und Gewerkschaften auf der einen sowie Versuche der Integration der industriellen Beziehungs- und Bewegungsforschung auf der anderen Seite unterberücksichtig.
